Glad you had a good time! I second your plan of doing anything involving needles (except smack obviously) - I only know how to do cross-stitch (and almost everybody I know has had an embroidered bookmark foisted upon them at some point) but learning how to make my own clothes is a dream of mine. The second budgie sounds exciting - am I being obtuse, or does she not have a name yet?
There's no name yet for New Budgie. I will first need to find out if the breeder has any available and whether or not it comes with a name. If I have liberty to choose one, I want to meet the little one first!
And yes, making clothes! I have basic sewing skills, but like you, I really want to learn more about making my own stuff...soon, soon.
Wow, it looks absolutely stunning, although I must say you're very brave for going out in temperatures that low! I definitely hear you on the lack of sun in the UK though, it's possibly the worst thing about winters here - so grey and depressing, and it's amazing what a few rays of sunshine can do for the mood, even on a really cold day.
Did you know that The Specials have re-formed? Couldn't have timed it better, really :/ It's all getting rather worrying.
I am really affected by sunshine (or lack thereof), and I'm increasingly aware of this. Perhaps this has been a contributor to my recent state of mind?
I know it sounds really cold in Canada (and I'm not saying that it's not) but it really is bearable. The large amounts of sunshine most certainly helps, but also the infrastructure is geared for it (e.g. heated bus shelters, reliable public transport timetables, good road clearing of snow/ice, etc).
I came to the conclusion this morning that I am in a better fiscal position than my UK banking institution. How crazy is that?!
It really could be. Those light therapy boxes are available for free if recommended by a doctor in places like Finland, so SAD is definitely a condition to be taken seriously. I don't know how much of a replacement for real sunlight they are though.
Oh god, just thinking about how the UK would suffer under such conditions makes me fall about laughing. Mind you, I'm an utter baby and refuse to leave the house if it's even a little icy ;). I think 'reliable public transport' is a wholly unobtainable holy grail in the West Midlands, too :D
I'll email you a link to my instructor's website. He's a good teacher and does beginner's classes. You can even attend a 'taster class' to see if it's for you first!

Good luck with acquiring a new budgie!
