When the spider and the beetle resumed their accustomed dominance

Wow. I can't believe it's been over a month since I updated here properly. It's been a combination of general busy-ness, avoiding spending *too* much time online, and a general can't-be-arsed/malaise feeling I've had as of late. This also means I've not been keeping up with other people's posts either. I will have a proper catch up over the next ( Read more... )

Incidentally, I plan to do a Proper Tour of Highgate Cemetery in the next few months so shout if anyone wants to come along.

YES YES YES!! All my mates thought I was mad when I suggested it. Count me in :D

My visit to England is six months away and I'm getting far and entirely too excited already.

My 40th birthday is on Sept. 26 if you'd like to join group of us in London going to a show and dinner!

Oooh! That sounds like it could be totally fun. What show are you thinking of seeing? Despite the time I've been in the UK, I've still *not* been to a West End show. *blush*

We still haven't decided yet. Oliver (w/ Burn Gorman and Rowan Atkinson) and We Will Rock You are high on the list, though.

Both sound good - please keep me posted as to your planning. London's really easy for me to get to so I'm totally up for coming along. :)

I'm so sorry I forgot your birthday :( It sounds like you had an absolutely wonderful time, though. neojezebel visited the V&A a few days ago and was raving about it too. It sounds spectacular!

Sorry to hear about the driving test, and the extra cash. At least you know your driving standard is what's required, mind, so I bet you'll pass no problem in May.

Weird - I was listening to Pram earlier on today, after not hearing them in a long, long time!

Oh don't worry - I didn't do a lot of reminding people about my birthday this year, nor did I organise anything overly social. :) But I did have a good day thanks!

The annoying thing about the test is really paying the fee again. I'm not too upset about it, just more annoyed at myself. Ah well, I'm sure next time will be better!

Glad you had a good time :)

Aye, it's a royal pain in the ass, that is. Did you have to pay again because the next test date is past some sort of cutoff point for a retake, or do you automatically have to pay again now? -sighs- It does seem awfully expensive - you have to pay for the theory test too, no?

No. You have to pay every single time you retake the test. Thankfully my theory test is valid for three years from the time I pass it. If I don't get my practical test by then, I have to retake the theory. It's a slight con really - the DSA obviously have the monopoly on driving licences in the UK so can pretty much charge whatever they want. It's a very expensive business to learn to drive. :/

Gutted about the driving test! But good luck for next time, I'm sure you'll be fine.
