I know (*sigh, too well!*) what you mean about bad sound..... I'm groaning through post on mine and even with dubbing, it's not so hot.
Well... I guess if this were easy, a billion MORE people would be attempting to make film/video, no? ;)

But that's why you just keep shooting and shooting and shooting and stay open to criticism and constantly evalute what you're doing. It's the only way to get better...

I'm also glad to hear you guys like the marantz recorder. That's the exact recorder we're purchasing with some of the profits we made from the premiere of our feature. Should only be a month from now and hopefully I'll be saying the same thing.

I'm sure you'll be saying the same thing! It's a great machine (battery draining aside).
Just make sure you leave enough money in the budget to get another CF card. The 64 Mb card it comes with can only hold 2 hours of MP3s (don't even bother trying to record WAVs with that card). For $20 at Circuit City, I got a 128 Mb card that holds up to 4 hours. Between the 2 cards, we haven't had any issues running out of recording time. But your best bet (I wish we'd had the money to do this) would be to spend the $100 and get a 1Gb card. That'll hold you over for sure!
