I think part of the reason why I love La Roux so much (aside from the awesome hair) is because- like Kenna- I can't quite nail down her sound. Is it new wave? R&B? Dance/Pop? Well, whatever the hell it is, I fucking love it.
thanks for posting this. i cant remember if i bought it before or after your post, but i have a connection/memory of you when i listen to that record. weird that bulletproof is a hit now, so far after the fact. have you heard the major lazer/la roux record?
I know what you mean- There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which British acts make an impact in the states. A decade ago, Robbie Williams seemed like a sure thing, but he finally gave up on the U.S. after several failed attempts to cross over.
Still, I hope Ellie Jackson doesn't get TOO big over here. I kinda like only having to shell out fifteen bucks to see her perform live.
BTW: I keep trying to download those Major Lazer/ La Roux songs on L(a)mewire, but they always stall out before it finishes. I REALLY want to hear these remixes (The one ML did with Santigold was HOT).
