Its hard to believe someone didn't try to 'reclaim' it at some point. Maybe when its always been around, nobody from the area looks at it anymore.

according to some comments and wikipedia it's right near where they are currently fighting in Russia/Georgia

but it's obviously been abandoned for a while, I wonder why

Crumbling infrastructure? Is there even a railroad track there, or is it gone, too?

I live just a couple of blocks from an active rail, and a completely abandoned and mostly missing station. The ramps are still there, and somewhat usable, but that's it. The siding is now only used for storing cars.
