Totally, TOTALLY agree. I saw that for the first time not too long ago... I had rented this film called Zero Day, which is not-too-loosely based on the events of Columbine (basic synopsis: Two boys go psycho and spend a year quietly planning to shoot up their school, which they ultimately do, and that's the movie. It was disturbing, but weirdly good)... and that got me interested in reading about Columbine, for some reason. I actually learned a lot about it, there's so much mythology surrounding that event! I didn't know they actually planned it as an act of mass terrorism, not as a school shooting that stemmed from bullying or whatever... it was totally indiscriminate, they just wanted a body count. Scary as fuck...

All of this to say: Yes. Recreating it with paintball? At best, insensitive. At worst, sick as fuck.

I should watch it, I was totally curious about it yesterday for some reason. Does it end when they kill themselves or what? I really thought it was cool that that girl Rachel (forget her last name) was considered a martyr for dying for her religion and that she had drawn a painting of crying eyes and a bleeding rose 2 hours before the shooting. They considered the 13 tears on the paper to be the thirteen deaths. She also wrote in her journal ealier that year "this will be my last year on earth". Creeeepy!

Oh no, I'm about to shatter more mythology on you... apparently, the Christian community injected Rachel Scott's death with a lot more meaning than it actually had. Obviously I wasn't there to confirm this, but after investigations were done there was a release saying that they asked her if she believed in god, she said yes, then they shot her... that's why the Christian community latched on to her... but they asked another person if they believed in god, they said "no" and they shot that kid too. Completely indiscriminate. The other stuff about her journal is intriguing, though... I've never heard any of that before ( ... )

Check this out

I know it's just an ecyclopedia but I found it cool. It shows the picture she drew and better explains things... I think from that they justify her being a martyr but I'd like to see people prove otherwise too since I'm not the most religious person ever.
