Wow! People actually read and commented! This is cool. Wish I actually had something to say... (Help me out here, Switzer.)
Our field got mowed last week. It now looks like a gigantic green lawn, with large white marshmellows (21 of them this year!) around its perimeter. Many, many argiopes (those large yellow and black spiders that I love) and lots ( Read more... )

What are the white marshmallows? Bloodthirsty farmer, eh? Probably the little critters are bad for his crops, but you'd think he could leave the ones in your field. Ah well. A Feast for Crows.

Too bad you can't put a radio collar on the coyote, either to let you know when he's in range, or to give him a perimeter to stay out of!

Either Dover or Sullivan is okay with us -- we have little kids to transport, you have Nana :) Not sure how that works out in the long run... You're more than welcome to come and stay overnight; that's been fun when we've done it in the past, and does give you all a lot more time with the kids.

Enjoy your film!

Farmer Bill said he saw two little creatures that he thought were ferrets running around chasing each other. They were not in front of the tractor or the mower and he did not run over them. He didn't see where they went. After the field was mowed I noticed a dead creature that I couldn't identify that was larger than a chipmunk. It may have been one of the "ferrets". I'm not even sure that we have ferrets around here. The crows did well that day.

That's good for Farmer Bill.

WRT the bales, do you then sell those to farms? Or are you planning to buy some livestock? Or is it for compost? (Inquiring minds want to know!)
