Whoo. I've felt good the past couple of days. I started messing around, doing Tai Chi at home and it's totally cool. Like, I expected it to either be boring and pointless or really hard, but it was actually easy and still a pretty good workout, despite how slow and careful all of the movements are. I don't, because this is the more new-agey version where they're mostly like, "Feel the magical chi energy cleansing your organs of negativity as you exhale," and junk like that. I mean, that idea of chi is traditional too, but it's sort of like a less popular yoga fad now. But it's still a fun introduction to tai chi, I think. If I like it and start to get good at the one form I know, I might seek legit instruction from a real person. But only if they teach it as a martial art, not a meditation/exercise technique. Only then will I acheive the 9th level of power on my quest for the journey of wooden tai chi swords.

But if nobody around here teaches that, I might learn Aikido instead, because we have an awesome looking Aikido gym (or whatever they're supposed to be called) right outside of town here. I do want to learn something (anything traditional, not like one of those American Karate factories or bastardized Tae Kwon Do weekend workshop places) once I get into not-embarassing-shape, because I'm a big martial arts nerd.

*nods* Yeah, I wanted to try kendo myself, but the equipment is expensive (and I'm not in good-enough shape to even attempt it.) Good luck with trying Aikido though, :K)
