No one should date people who are overtly judgmental of them. it only leads to extreme resentment.

Agreed,in full...I spent more than a few relationships doing some variation on the theme of asking to be critiqued, molded, remodeled, then realizing that I'd left parts of myself behind in the cuttings. It's the worst when you realize what's happened, and that there's no way to explain yourself to the lover you let play the part of Pygmalion.

It's still weird trying to find the right balance of influence, though, especially at those times when I or my Other is feeling particularly weak...
