Part of me wants to debate with you about crumb and the level to which he challenges and demands things of his readers, but being in the middle of quitting cigarettes has completely removed my ability to be okay with the idea that people disagree with me, even if it is freindly.
actually, quitting smoking has completely removed my ability to be okay with the fact that anything exists at all. (seriously, i hate everything and don't just want it to die, i want it to cease existing for all eternity)
also, R. Crumb and his art work is the single biggest artistic influence i have ever had. He is the reason I foolishly thought i should make comics. So, I feel a need to stick up for my hero.
that said, i was unaware of this love you have for comix. This is one of many things that makes me think it would be fun to hang out with you and talk about stuff as people and not as comments on blogs.
i am saying you seem neat and I like your taste in things. A rarity.

Don't know if your denicotiztion has progressed to a more tolerable level, but, if you ever wanted to shoot me an e-mail, re: Crumb, Art (pronounced "Aht", please), sex, life, the horrors of Pennsylvania, it'd be a welcome note in my inbox.
(Also: Just finished reading this, and have since been craving junk-food-horror-comics.)

I just picked up An anthology of tales from the crypt comics. They are beautiful, but it was 50 bucks. It was worth it to me for the art alone because i worship the old ec guys on all levels. they were geniuses. I'm really hoping dr. wertham was right and they turn me into a juvenile delinquent.
there's a movie called comicbook confidential, the sequence when they talk about horror comics corrupting the young is CLASSIC!
give me your e-mail address and i will send you e-mails and we can have a correspondence. I would enjoy such a thing.
