Well this is unexpectedly obnoxious. Jut like the summer I started to fuck up my wrist while I was simultaneously learning staff/juggling/guitar, writing, and doing very little else (including break/rest/stretch time), my right wrist is out of commission until the weird internal-sunburn feeling goes away.

For the record, this is what I get for not ( Read more... )

ow, figuring things out, stupid stupid rat-creature

I had professors at scad tell me that when they see their friends and colleagues at conventions, they compare carpal tunnel hand braces.
The damage that art can do to one's hands is a horrible irony. I once drew for so long to complete an assignment that my hand cramped up so badly that i had to twist it into this gnarly looking claw to feel anything other than excruciating pain.

Mix done you say?

Mix done. Just needs one more listen-through, and a proper package.

There has to be a healthier way to draw than I've been doing...It's weird, though - the only people I've found so far (at least in a quick scan) who make a thing about taking care of your body while you're drawing/writing are Zen painters, and Lynda Barry (who's been influenced by the former...).

It's pretty stupid.

Lady, I could catch the road runner right now if it were a human female. I'll catch you. surrealname April 21 2011, 04:02:44 UTC
I saved my hand by switching materials, cutting down on cross hatching, and... drawing less? I dunno. I haven't had a flair up in a long time, and have had some pretty extensive drawing nights in the last few months.

your mixes are also done. I just need cds. my last 11 went to a good cause.

It is on what I suppose one might call more of a macro scale, but it is fascinating to me the percentage of conversation at the circus school that revolves around everyone's latest burns, pulls, tears, et cetera. One of my close friends there is about to have shoulder surgery. I am personally dealing with my first tear of something that genuinely impedes my rope progress, but fortunately I managed to tear something that apparently only is used in one very specific position, so if I just avoid that position maybe it will heal on its own (it's sure taking long enough, though - almost 3 weeks and it still feels worse every time I test it). I am trying to be understanding with my body, so rather than just ignoring the pain, I rewrote my routine so the move happens on the other side.

I suppose this is why they say art is pain.

I am crashing the everloving snot out of TGIF.

Y'all are why I'm learning physical therapy. Someone's gotta be able to give you pointers of how to redline yourselves without overdoing it.

Much fondness and healing thoughts at you both.

I love:

- reading your writing
- talking to you, about anything
- your hug/tackles
- you.

Love, love, love. Love. Love--love. Love? Love.
