I did manage to get to the Races this weekend. Amy took pity on me and accompanied me to the Saturday race. Unfortunately it was a small enough that there was no TV or radio broadcast, so the scanner was essentially useless. We briefly listened to one driver/pit crew until Amy got the brilliant idea of switching to her iPod. And it worked! ( Read more... )

Mike went with me Sunday to what he dubbed the 'Shitkicker 100'. Matt Kenseth was the crowd favorite and alhtough he was in first for the first 50 laps, he ended up in 4th for the last half. Whatever they did to 'fix' his car during the pitstop made it much worse.

Minor correction: Matt Kenseth finished 3rd. The car that had been 3rd for most of the second half of the race had mechanical problems with about 10 laps to go and ended up going down a lap, giving the third spot to Kenseth. Other than that, you're dead on.

Oh, I also admit the guy who finished 2nd must be thrilled ... he lost to Kyle Busch, but beat Matt Kenseth. Not bad for a driver in the minor league of racing.
