I got scheduled to work on Monday and Tuesday because I wasn't on the schedule. I wasn't on the schedule because I switched with co-workers to get OFF the schedule because I cannot work those days! Apparently my boss doesn't recognize this ( Read more... )

Two things about abortion Ryan. The first one is that women who get an abortion know it's wrong, just read some of their poetry. Second, never, ever, ever get into this argument with a women. Seriously. Ever.

Why not? Ryan isn't too dumb; he could handle himself pretty well.

I know Ryan isn't dumb. Him and I often have very deep discussions. Ryan can hold his own logically, but some laides certainly have strong opinions that defy logic. I'm not saying it's a bad idea to discuss abortion with a lady, I said not to get into an argument. Bad bad memories...

Ladies, men, hermaphrodites, shemales, whatever... the more viewpoints to consider, the better. Don't be afraid of arguing with the ladies, matt. ;)

I just think abortion could be handled better. It's a pretty huge decision for a woman, and I think she should have to go through some sort of counseling beforehand, ya know, so she'd know EXACTLY what she was getting into - possible post abortion stress syndrome, etc. - and know all her other options - adoption, mostly.
I'd like to say, on the one hand, that it should be done away with altogether, but there's so much gray area... Women NEED to have that sort of option - rape victims (although pregnancy from rape is EXTREMELY rare), mostly, and women whose bodies aren't physically capable of giving birth...
I have to go now, but the short and short of it is, it's a lot more complicated than some people would have you believe.

>> Who knows what countless geniuses and artists and world-changers we may be losing if we keep aborting fetuses.

While I agree with you that abortion is a very fuzzy topic, I really don't like this justification. It's not a guarantee that every genius/etc is going to be aborted. And if you continue this line of logic, you start wondering: who knows what countless world-changers aren't being concieved, because a woman decides not to have sex in the first place? How many conceptions are stopped by condoms, that might've been "world-changers"? How many possible world-changers starve to death every day? You simply can't say, 'you can't have an abortion because your baby might change the world.' What if the mother would be a world-changer if she didn't have a baby clinging to her leg to take care of?

Um, yea. I'm done. ^_^

Some interesting points...

Also, I had forgotten to consider that if geniuses and world-changers are hypothetically being aborted every day, what about all the Hitlers and Stalins that never get a chance to plague the earth because they were aborted?

A few other things I thought I'd mention:

1) You and I, as of today anyway, aren't exactly world changers ourselves. But don't you feel happy to be alive? Would it not be a shame if you had never been born? I guess if you had never been born you would never know the difference, but since you were born you do know how it is to be alive, and thus it could seem unfair to take that away from someone else ( ... )

Yea, I agree with the wanting to be alive bit and stuff. I'm not saying I wholeheartedly agree with abortion [my stance is similar to yours - I know it's important, but I'm not sure where I stand], just that I disagreed with that one particular justification for pro-life.
