I heard this interview (the audio link is beneath the headline) today on NPR while I was cleaning one of the storage rooms. It's primarily about the Mark Foley scandal, though that's not the reason I'm linking it here.

I urge all of you to listen to it.

You'll know why when you hear it.

We are very concerned that the early warnings of Mr. Foley's odd behavior toward young male pages may have been overlooked or treated with deference, fearing a backlash from the radical gay rights movement because of Mr. Foley's sexual orientation. It appears that the integrity of the conservative majority has given way to political correctness, trading the virtues of decency and respect for that of tolerance and diversity. No one should be surprised at the results of such a tragic exchange.

...I will never understand how Michele Norris is able to keep her voice so calm and even-sounding in the face of claims like that. It is a force of nature.

I like the letter.
I found out about the scandal today.
Being a Musical Theatre major I am kind of ridiculously busy and also out of the loop cause I don't read newspapers I read librettos.
But I was shocked.
Umm it is ridiculous.
Puhhleaze where is the world going..
