"Contoversial Questions" Meme; stolen from mcb_homis. Lookie, my first LJ meme.
[1] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No. I've never had any desire to modify my body's chemical reactions beyond affects of caffeine and alcohol.
[2] Abortion: for or against it?
Against in most cases. I don't know when life starts during gestation, or how to even define that concept, and I'm starting to think it may be unknowable. Given that, I'm inclined to err on the side of protecting the innocent. And I can't think of any more fundamental liberty than the right to live.
Taken to it's logical conclusion, this point of view would mean that I would oppose abortion even in the event of rape or incest. That's a hard position to take, given the circumstances of the pregnancy, and the potential for emotional harm from the constant reminder of the incident that the child would represent.
On the flip side, I can't condemn a new life, or even the potential life, for the crimes of another. That would be more unjust. In the final tally, I find myself on the side of the child.
[3] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Not necessarily. I mean, it didn't fail under President Carter...
[4] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Do I believe that it exists? Um yeah...
All joking aside, I do believe that there are crimes worthy of it (including rape, I'm a little draconian in that respect), and that its existence and use does have an affect on the occurrence of capital crimes. That being said, I don't think the US justice system has adequate safeguards against killing innocent people. I would prefer actual life sentences (you know, where the criminal is actually in jail until they die) to the current system.

And taxed, yup. It's affects aren't any worse than alcohol.
[6] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I don't care, so long as it's consensual, and both parties are cognizant of the fact that this is how life is created, it is much more than just a physical thing.

Yup.
[8] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Honestly, I don't care. It seems to me too much of the argument is overwrought on both sides.
[9] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Yup. I would also think it's wrong for any nationality to illegally move to the US.
[10] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Does she want to? Does her family support her decision?

Yes. Sixteen if they are in the company of a legal guardian or a private residence.

Now that we're winning? Probably not. We're not out of the woods yet, but the Petraeus Strategy is working (I refuse to call it the surge, as that glosses over the fact that primary difference was in strategy and NOT simply troop numbers).

Nope, folks ought to be allowed to off themselves.

Yup. The good I could do for my family far outweighs the guilt I would feel over burning what is essentially a piece of cloth.

I don't trust the judgement of either of them. I'm voting for McCain because I really don't see the Republicans taking either house of Congress back this fall, and I want to keep the government split between the parties as often as possible.
