Those are some great lines! This is a great Writers Block! We studied first lines in one of my writing classes.

The first line of my favorite book is "Accidents ambush the unsuspecting, often violently, just like love." It's from The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson.

Just that they should be good! LOL. I guess we didn't learn about them, so much as have a writing exercise where we had to write a great first line of a story. We even had a competition in class. So to practice we read the first lines of a few short stories that my teacher thought were particularly good and ever since I've kind of had an obsession with them!
