susannah_wilde’s prompt: Turning the Manor into a haunted house attraction for Halloween
Draco looks around the foyer skeptically. “Really, Harry? Are these awful cobwebs necessary?”
“They’ll create the right atmosphere. I’m going to conjure a few spiders to scare the children, too.” Harry grins. “I was also thinking we might charm the webs so they move and try to get people stuck to them?”
“That might be too much. I’d hate to explain why we had children dying from fright,” Draco drawls, shaking his head. “I thought the fake moat around the front door was supposed to create atmosphere.”
“That’s just for the sea creature to pop out and scare visitors occasionally. The cobwebs are creepy, though.” Harry walks over to him. “You don’t mind, do you?”
“I already said you could turn the manor into your haunted house. As long as you deal with clean-up on November 1st, you can do whatever you want. I assume the ghosts that are now terrorizing the house elves belong to you, too?” Draco has to bite back a smile when Harry gives him a sheepish look.
“Real ghosts, Draco. What children actually get to be spooked by real ghosts on Halloween? It’s brilliant. I’ve lined up volunteers to act as some of the other spooky things, too. Ron’s going to lurk in shadows and scare people.”
“Oh, so he’s not wearing a costume then?” Draco smirks when Harry swats his arm.
“And Hermione’s going to do these charms that make the whole place sound as if it’s the middle of a storm, and Neville’s agreed to be turned into a werewolf and Seamus is dressing up as a vampire, but don’t tell Hermione because I don’t want any more bloody lectures about magical creature rights. Anyway, Hagrid’s even agreed to bring a dragon, with Charlie’s help.”
“Good. I was going to say that Hagrid and a dragon are not getting anywhere near my house, but I trust Weasley Number Two. It sounds like you and your silly friends are very excited about this.” Draco reaches over to straighten Harry’s spectacles. “Meanwhile, my friends are working on the charity donations and transportation to get the children here and back.”
“I knew I could trust you to handle the business part of it all.” Harry leans in for a kiss. “Do you want to help me make cobwebs?”
Draco sighs loudly even as he bumps his hip against Harry’s. “If I must.”
“Did I tell you about George? He’s going to dress up like a Muggle clown…”
“No clowns!” Draco grimaces and shudders. “Get as many monsters and spiders and creepy crawlies as you want, but no bloody clowns. Those things are terrifying! You’d scar the children for sure with clowns running around.”
Harry laughs and kisses him again. “Alright. I’ll tell George no clowns. Promise.”
