Well, the big show's over and I'd like to congratulate my boy Chris Rock on putting on a good show. He's still funny, even if Dave Chapelle stole his career ( Read more... )

This isn't related to your post at all because you and I have completely different movie taste, but I thought it was kind of funny that I'm listening to INterstate Love Song by STP right now.

At least we can agree on music (sometimes).

I agree with Jamie Foxx winning for Ray. You must think my devotion to Depp is wavering but trust me darling it's still there. He just hasn't found THAT movie yet that will bring him over the top.

Didn't see Million Dollar Baby but I've heard it deserved to win.

I don't even like Johnny Depp, but Finding Neverland was one of the best movies I have ever seen. If any movie could ever bring Depp over the top, that one was it.

And I think I'm the only person in the entire world who absolutely hated Ray and The Aviator.

didnt you hear? johnny depp is retiring after Pirates 2.
he's decided that he's said all he wants to say. sad for you, but i say, good on the guy for realizing that you dont need an oscar for people to know you're accomplished

I doubt it. He's actually signed on to make three more movies after Pirates, which are The Rum Diary, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and Shantaram which isn't coming out until 2007 (he's also producing this one!). Then there's the ones before Pirates which are Willy Wonka and The Corpse Bride. These are just the next few ones that he's doing. Trust me darling if my Johnny was going to retire, I would know about it. Where did you hear he was going to retire anyways?

I thought it was kind of stupid that The Passion, being the highest grossing movie in the history of time, was only nominated for technical awards.

Congradulations to the Academy for still not figuring out why ratings for the Oscars are dropping like a stone. They rarely nominate the movies that people actually like.

The Passion offended entirely too many people to be nominated. Actually, it doesn't matter that if offended people in general. It pissed off the Jews, a people that even I wouldn't mess with.

Besides, it really wasn't that great of a movie. It was a man being beaten for two hours. If I wanted to see that, I would walk down to Five Points.

And I wouldn't have to pay $6.50 for it, either.

regardless of whether it was generally liked, it was well made and a piece of art at that, just as much as Finding Neverland or Ray or Million Dollar Baby. the reason the Jews didnt like it is because they missed the whole point. the point isnt that jews killed Jesus, the point is that he gave his life.

and if you didnt like Ray, thats wierd. im sorry.

The cinematography on Passion was amazing, even if I didn't exactly like the movie overall. Ah well...perhaps it should have been nominated for more but the sheer politics of it wouldn't allow. Sad.

Jews hold a considerable amount of power in the entertainment industry. I don't have an opinion on whether or not they should have been offended, but regardless, they were.

and if you didnt like Ray, thats weird.

Robert, you're so nice.

what, it was a great movie about a musical genius. what didnt you like about it?

People's perceptions of "great" are different. I absolutely hate biopics. There were two exceptions this year, Hotel Rwanda and Finding Neverland.

I could go into the specific reason why this particular biopic pissed me off, but really, I see no point in arguing with you. I'm not stupid, and I don't need someone I consider a friend making me feel like I am.

My opinion of the movie in no way reflects my opinion of Ray Charles's music. I have always thought he was a fucking genius.
