oh, come now, they don't kill the trees, just pick the nuts! probably they just gently shake the trees and gather the softly fallen nuts ... and, if a reader werent' careful (or even if they were?), might think your enemy is/was the baby trees, whose young nuts you've been dining upon, yes? -- your three lines have a syllogistic appearance, so I just went a-b-c ... and, btw, Trader Joe's has little bags of pine nuts/almonds/pumpkin seeds, perfectly salted. come on, haven't you seen baby trees carrying sandwich signs that say "eet mor pumkin!" and, finally, this somehow reminds me: that was a very fine breakfast with you two, which I still recall very fondly. (is there any indication here that I'm bored nearly comatose?) ;)
