I thought that we were trying to spend more time on security not give people loopholes to get through our systems.

As Christopher said, the only advantage is that you get through the same routine more quickly because there are next to no other people in the clear line. For that advantage you pay $100+ year and have to submit a retinal scan to be added to your dossier with the feds. If you frequented O'Hare-Chicago or Hartfield/Jackson-Atlanta airports, then it could be a major advantage as their security lines are legendary. If many more people bite though, then the advantage will disappear.
