vapenslagsmärke : err. I really don't know what this is in English, and it's not in any of mah dictionaries hereabout. But let's call 'em...ahh..sort of identifying insignias. Basically, depending on what schooling you're given, you become a specialist in some field. You then get an insignia which you put on your loma (leave) -outfit, which identifies you as someone who has received this education and acts in a certain role. For instance, most normal Jaegers will simply have a rifle against a green background on their arm. We mortar-platoonmen will have a small bomb against a green background.
And so forth. It's a thang.
