Speak up. Before you meet. You can't ruin what hasn't started and if he can't listen at all is there a point in starting anyway. There's a difference in being the center of the conversation and getting to just be a part of the conversation. Don't let this guy use you as an outlet for listening without giving anything back.

My guess is he's a nervous rambler (no matter how much you talk to him he's still nervous/excited!) and not trying to be rude. I'd say something joke-y but not too blunt because he could get very self-conscious about it (I'm VERY sensitive to people telling me I talk too much and I *KNOW* I do it!)

I can't believe that tool took your DVR. Did everything delete itself?

I got nothing off the DVR. I'm a week behind on everything new! :(

I've already gotten onto him for tangenting in his conversations (of course I do that too and he calls me on it when I do). He's just always steering the conversations back to him and his views and... ugh, I'm not gonna girl over this. I just need to wait and see how things go.
