Alright. Think about the mind of a child around the age of 8. Perhaps not very bright, and wants a great many things like candy and toys. Now say this child was one day having a temper tantrum, because something it wanted wasn't going its way ( Read more... )

I understand what you mean completely. Children are highly impressionable and often take little things to heart in a way that was never meant.

I can remember growing up in my family meant that I was the caretaker. I was the one that fixed everything from broken hearts to broken bones. That's the way it was. I never learned to express myself or depend on family or friends because everyone was supposed to lean on me. It has taken me a long time to learn to begin relying on other people. That's a hard step to take. At first, you feel very needy & whiny, but after a while, you have to learn that letting others help shoulder the burden doesn't necessarily mean that you're weak.

Letting others shoulder your burdens can save your life. Just remember that friends are there for a reason - to help you with your problems and keep you strong when you feel weak.
