i just finished white teeth. for those of you out there who haven't finished it yet, i loved it. the characters in it were so fucking well developed, complex, flawed, and beautiful. can't wait to discuss it in class because there is so much good material in those 448 pages. its not just crap and fluff like other books that are packed like that ( Read more... )

I have about a quarter of an inch left in White Teeth. I'm very much enjoying it. I guess for a while I was making myself read it, in order to actually finish. But now I am back into it, reading ALOT every day. I think my favorite thing about it is the comparisons she draws to something that is soooo distant and out there, but makes perfect sense once it is brought together. Just little things, like this: "But how fragile Clara's atheism!...Talking of which, Clara still holds hers when passing churches the same way adolescent vegetarians scurry by butchers..."

Thigns like that bring a chuckle out of me when I come accross them and think about it.

its funny that you say you have a quarter of an inch left rather than this amount of pages left. its creative. i like it. and yeah i think zadie smith is a wonderful writer. she is so eloquent in her descriptions, like the one you mentioned. i think my favorite characters are irie and archie. oh and neena. she is hilarious. so dana told me that you are talking a lot of college courses this year. how's that going? do you know where you want to go to college next year? well maybe we could get together sometime, you me and dana, and we could hang out! talk to you later!

Yeah, I'm going full time to montgomery county community college. It's fun so far, but it was really scary at first - mostly because its the first "real" school, if you will, that I have ever gone to. I had never had to sit at a desk before!! But now that I am used to it, the actual classes are fun, and I'm meeting new people.

I am thinking about going to Ursinus (my brothers school) but I also want to visit a few others. Drexel and Arcadia are on my list, and some others I forget..

Any time you guys are free from the clenches of Westtown, let me know! I don't usually have that much going on!

one of my favorite memories of you is when I said I liked your pants and you looked at me, smiled sort've distantly and answered firmly, "these are my rock star pants!"
