Name: Spock
Fandom: Star Trek XI

Age/Appearance:
At twenty-eight years old, Spock stands at a little over six feet tall. He bears all obvious signs of just what he is; his pointed ears, black-haired bowl cut, narrowed and arching eyebrows, and pale skin.

History: Wiki time. [Note: Spock will be taken from a few months post-movie.]

Personality: As a half-Vulcan, half-Human hybrid, Spock’s personality is a complicated one; the two sides constantly at war with each other. Despite having been brought up within the Vulcan society, with his mother there beside him through the years, neither side was entirely ignored, despite any efforts he made to the contrary.

Throughout his life, Spock has always been looked down upon by the rest of his race. Having a human mother was ultimately seen as a weakness, and it’s something that others never let him forget. He was bullied incessantly throughout his childhood, at times to the point of retaliation. His anger often got the better of him quickly when those barbs went on to including his mother. The strength of his feelings toward his mother is something that has stuck with him all the way until his adult life, and was easily taken advantage of by Kirk when the time called for it.

Vulcans are, by nature, extremely intelligent and hold a great deal of control over themselves. This includes both their actions and their emotions, even going as far as purging their emotions in a ritual known as kolinahr. It’s a ritual that Spock chose not to undertake, and instead chose to enter Starfleet instead of the Vulcan Science Academy. This is in part due to his mothers’ words to him, ones that eased his concerns over how she would react to the decisions he made, and also due to the words of the Academy instructor; ones that stated that Spock was at a disadvantage due to his heritage. It took little effort on his part to follow his feelings instead of logic, and it’s one of the many different occasions that he repeats himself in that respect.

Logic, however, plays a large part in each and every decision that Spock makes. Or rather, used to make. His time spent as a member of the same crew as Kirk has helped to dull those edges between logic and impulsiveness; though the latter is definitely something better left to the rest of the crew. He’s still prone to the occasional bout of illogicality, but it’s only ever with reason, or in certain situations, persuasion.

His human side is what sets him apart from other Vulcans. And while the rest of his race considers having a human mother to be a weakness, Spock believes it’s anything but. He still does his best to follow the training he was given as a child; believing that the control of ones emotions are important. That letting that control slip for even a moment can be disastrous.

The relationship he has with Uhura is yet more proof of just how different Spock is to other Vulcans. Despite Uhura being his student, the two of them began a relationship some time before receiving the distress call from Vulcan. It’s a relationship that isn’t born from logic and instead from emotion itself. However, despite Spock being well-versed in the mating rituals of both humans and Vulcans, it’s unlikely that he would entirely understand what was happening to him until it had. He has no point of reference as to what is right or wrong in a relationship like theirs. And it’s only after his own father admits to having married his mother out of love rather than logic that things really start to fall in to place for him. Until then, he’d been reluctant to open up to anyone about his feelings; something that had only ever come to a head when Kirk had pushed him far enough. But with his fathers’ admission, things change. Subtly.

Sexual Preferences/Orientation: Sex is very much a private matter to all Vulcans, and Spock is no exception. It isn’t something he’d openly discuss with anyone; even his feelings toward his fellow crewmate Nyota Uhura were something he kept between the two of them up until the few moments before he and Kirk were to head off to their possible deaths. Spock isn’t the type of person to sleep around or to make any kind of split-second decision when it comes to an act like sex. And neither is he the type to take things lightly. He won’t seek out a relationship, and it’s only through Uhura’s persistence that he was ever capable of moving from colleague to friendship to romantic.

As it stands, Spock doesn’t really have a sexual orientation. He barely even has a sex drive as it is. Most of the time.

Powers: As a Vulcan, Spock is stronger, faster, and tougher than your average human, thanks to all the biological differences between the two races. He’s also capable of using certain telepathic abilities, but they require far more training than he’s had to perfect them. Through the use of the Vulcan mind meld, a telepathic link can be formed between himself and another to allow a free exchange of thoughts and memories.

And, of course, there’s always the Vulcan nerve pinch, reserved for special occasions like a mutinying crew mate.
