I'm getting tired of these Mac commercials. You know, the ones with the hip young mac everyone wants and the old lame PC that never works. So many of these commercials seem to be based around the claims that macs have fewer viruses, work better, and are more practical ( Read more... )

Exactly.

That's about all I have to say, actually.

Exactly.

Well, Macs can handle memory-hog programs like Illustrator and Photoshop, but I've only had mine a short time so I can't say how it'd do if I had more stuff on there.

As for the price tag, well... They do it 'cause they can get away with it. People pay for the looks, the hipness, the marketing.

Yep, they pay for the "hipness". And memory's not a problem in a Mac...if you have at least a gig of it. But try running a Mac even with 512 megs or RAM? Forget it. Frequent freezes. And 256 is nearly unusable.

I was always under the assumption that the biggest benefit to having a Mac was either running graphics programs or the supposed easier time going between one's computer and iPod...but I've had absolutely no problems with running my iPod on my PC...ok, well...short story: iPod fell off a 9-foot shelf and landed face-first on concrete floor; screen stopped working, but internal bits didn't; iPod was set to shuffle all when it happened and is now a 30GB Shuffle and is sometimes temperamental; only real problem now is the headphone jack's being a pain in my ass...

But back to the real issue at hand...I have no interest in buying a Mac no matter what their commercials try to spread. I like to be able to upgrade hardware and memory if I feel like it and not have to buy a whole new box...

Exactly. I have an iPod as well and have no complaints about trying to use it on my PC. If anything, the commercials make me want to buy a Mac less.

Not to mention a friend of mine who consistently can't find software she wants for her mac, so she's always asking me to see if I can find something (and I can't always).
