Regular readers are more than welcome to skip this particular entry since it has to do with the science fiction / fantasy novels that I am readind at the moment

I like trashy romance novels also, but I like them when they are sold in the trashy romance novel section of the bookstore and not the Science Fiction/Fantasy novel section.
Basically what Laurell K. Hamilton is getting Anita to be is a succubus of more demonic intent. She has taken the role of someone who had morals to someone who cannot stop having sex because of the new powers within her. I personally feel just as you do. There is no need to go into so much sexual detail that a person just wants to gag. I find myself blushing on the ferry to work and now after reading Danse Macabre, I think I'm ending the legacy of continuing reading her books. It used to have mystery and I feel unsatisfied with that aspect of her stories

I haven't read it yet but from the comments of both my friend and my cousin, they are completely different. My cousin told me she loved the book but hated the play. My friend told me he loved the play but the book didn't do the story justice. I have several friends that told me Wicked is a really good book. One also told me it's great if I can get past the first two chapters.
My friend in Philly was extremely upset at the play because it was missing huge parts from the book.
I have not read the book (it is on my list of things to read), but I absolutely loved the play. I walked out of the theatre with a huge smile on my face. I loved the little jokes that they made and especially loved the music.
On fierce recommendations from friends, I starting watching The Dresden Files on SciFi and was hooked immediately. So, now I am reading the books. I just finished the first one "Storm Front" and am working on #2, "Fool Moon

I do enjoy Harrison's Rachael Morgan line of books. There are parts in the story where she does some romancing. I don't consider Kisten to be one of the main roles. The books are mainly about the witch (Rachael) with her associates Jenks (he's a wise-ass pixy) and Ivy (a woman infected by the vampire virus that is afraid to become the truely undead). Kisten is more of a co-star as he is Ivy's best friend but is falling in love with Rachael. There are some sex scenes with slight details that I guess place emphasis to the fact that even though Ivy and Kisten are two of the most powerful living vampires, they still have their inherited weaknesses that they have a hard time controlling. There are other characters in the story that have secret identities in the first book so I won't ruin that but the mysteries in this series that take place are really pretty good.
I don't get why there has to be this underlying sexual tension between Ivy and Rachael.
I am pretty sure that not every truly hot exotic woman out there is harboring same sex tendencies (though a huge portion of the male population secretly wish so). It doesn't really add to the story line and I find myself skipping those parts of the book so I can get to the part where Racheal does the investigation + kicking bad guy's ass part.
In fact I find that I do that with a lot of books now a days. I must just be getting old or something.
