for record, I just cancelled my Macbook order.

My friend aguamyst let me know that Apple is shipping it's new operating system on October 26th. I called customer service and they said, "they weren't aware of how Apple is going to handle upgrades." The customer service rep said that they wouldn't find out what the official policy on this was going to be ( Read more... )

AHEM. you should be getting the new OS free. I'm supposed to it is part of the package I got when I ordered. Still wait it's only a few days and then you'll get panther anyway.

and I'm shocked that they are being so unhelpful. I've never had anything but the nicest of experiences and them going the extra mile.

i agree. i wouldn't completely disregard the whole thing based on that one person. i've personally had great experiences with their customer service.

ok, good you cancelled. I own two macs. and I advise waiting a couple months after the new one comes out, cause then you get it with all the new stuff included without extra costs

My suggestion to you is not to be discouraged. Apple never had the best customer service record to my knowledge. The store representative's service have actually improved so if you have one by you, I would go there when the new OS comes out. That's what I plan to do. And it's not an Apple thing either. Dell, which used to have excellent customer service, has also declined in that area so you cannot base a product solely on customer service ( ... )
