Killing Joke

Saw 'em tonight at Slim's with a friend of mine from oldwork. Jaz came out in a cloak and gnarled walking stick like a disturbed monk. (Ted) Parsons was in the pocket most of the night and Raven frankly surprised me by being a better bassist than I'd ever given him credit for. Hard and yet on the groove sometimes directly under the vocal lines and ( Read more... )

but ted parsons rules. did he leave prong for kj or leave kj for prong and then go back?

i totally forgot that "the wait" is their song - so used to the metallica version. don't think i've ever heard the original. although the overtime has netted me some extra cash so i'll check it out.

Ted, just admit it... gund_kata November 14 2003, 13:01:38 UTC
Ted Parsons was also in Swans, right? I also take it that Mr. Grohl couldn't join them on tour?

A few thoughts:

1. Destroyer, I am incredibly envious that you got to see KJ. Sounded like a great show.
2. emilY, while I've never heard the Metallica version of "The Wait", the original is a personal fave. If I ever start another band that would to the song justice, I'd cover it in a heartbeat.
3. I kinda do like that last KJ album.

I think he just left Prong. You're the one that told me he hated Tommy Victor I think. Seems to me I read something like that on Raven's blog as well. Everyone in the band got along and they all embraced (individually, not the horrid group hug thing) after the show. They were clearly enjoying it. Nice to see bands that aren't all about the cash. Ted's apparently the main drummer in Godflesh and Teledubgnosis and was in Swans prior to Prong according to his official site.

Ted's apparently the main drummer in Godflesh

Every time I think of Godflesh, I'm reminded of the Alesis beatbox that they had on their first US tour. Apparently when they were soundchecking for the first stateside show, the voltage difference fried their original drum machine, so Justin had to run out to find a replacement and reprogram the bastard before the show. No such explosive issues with a live drummer, tho' (unless you're Spinal Tap).
