I just kicked out 3500 words tonight, more than I wrote all of August and September (I think. I don't actually keep track by month.)  I decided that I'm tired of working on the first draft of this damn thing, so I'm going to kick out the rest in record time.  I'm thinking 5000 words a day will get me done in under 3 weeks.  I currently stand at 62, ( Read more... )

*falls flat on face* 1200 today and that's top marks for me, I bow to your superior word-smithery. What are you writing, Tyson? Is there a post that gives us a blurb, or is it still early days?

Hiya Mary. I haven't posted a blurb yet, but perhaps I should. I've managed to describe it to people in under a 1000 words before, so I should really give a concise description a go.

And 1200 is a great days work! I would kill most days to hit that word count. 3587 was a fluke for me last night. I'm going to see if I can keep that up for several days before I get excited. I'm so tired of this thing. I don't now if you've read Patrick Rothfuss's book Name of the Wind, but he posted a great blog today about being tired of working on the sequel. Worth checking out. I'm sure you'll be able to relate. (I'm still working on that part about getting published.)

That's a pretty funny post from PR. I've heard the name of course, and how good he is, but haven't actually sat down and got through one of his books yet. There are so many good books to read. It's awful: there's an excellent book on novel writing by John Wood, a Dickens, and the Book Thief all in various states of unread-ness on my bedside table, not because I don't have time to read them, but because what time I have I inevitably spend either writing my own stuff... or blathering online. :)
