I just reread chapters 9-11 of my book. They don't suck as much as I remembered. In fact, I found myself getting into them and reading more than I had intended, which is why I am still awake at a quarter til 5 in the A. M. This is encouraging. I still don't know if I'll be able to pull all the strands of the book together for a satisfying ( Read more... )

Wow Tyson I really sympathize, I've been extraordinarily lucky to have the support of my husband (and all round cool creative partner) in this book-writing venture. He supported me for five years and is still supporting me, as book advances are... well... nowhere close to earning me $14 an hour. ;)

Keep plugging away, don't give up. If you traded in your dream only to bury yourself in some unfulfilling job, you'd always have regrets... Finish the book... You're doing the right thing.

Maybe one day I'll be able to make it up to my man by giving him the chance to go back to his own projects, something he's eager to do, too.

Yeah a partner to support me would be nice, but I'm not going to hold my breath. :-) I think I'll end up with a high paying job before that happens.

When I moved to Utah in 2001, I started writing a book. I got about 45000 words done before I got my job at eBay. Then for the next 6-7 years, I did not write at all. Work took all my energy. As soon as I was laid off, I started writing again. I'm afraid that when I get a job I'll stop writing. Work tends to pull so much out of me that I don't have a lot of energy left over when I get home.

In the long term, I'll be glad I was laid off so that I can refocus on what I really want in life. The journey is hard though. Whenever I read about the struggles my idols went through before making it big, they never seem that bad. It's different actually living it. :-)

When you're an internationally known successful author with several of your books adapted into film, you can be your husband's sugar mama to make it up to him. ;-)

That's the main plan!

I hear you re work/writing. There's just no time for both. I had to quit work to get anything done, too. Mind you, raising a kid still qualifies as work. ;)

Doing laundry, dishes, cooking, and bagging leaves is more than I usually do outside of work all week. =P

I hope you're feeling better! Did you ever figure out what the allergies were from?

Nope, never did. Still have the sinus infection but it isn't as bad. I give it a few more days.
