Reviews: Rose Red, Vampire, Ulaume, Dark Love Spell

I recently placed an order for four samples from Seventh Scent; they arrived a few days ago and I've had a fun time trying & evaluating each one! The reviews follow, under lj-cuts.

Rose Red

Official description of the perfume from the Seventh Scent web store: Warm, spicy and seducing changing to haunting smell of the dark red drying roses, tones or dark rose, rosemary and mint.

In the bottle: A sweet mint with a floral undertone; no immediate rose scent. The mint (peppermint?) is an obvious, fresh top note.

On the skin, immediately following application: Applied a smidge to the classic pulse points. Still a very sweet, mouthwatering minty scent, innocent without being childish; fading a bit to the deeper floral undertone. After roughly five minutes of evaporation the rose heart note begins to appear, and though stylized, is lasting and evocative of a real rose.

On the skin, 15 to 30 minutes later: Fading to a base note that is a touch of vanilla, just warm enough to sweeten the rose heart note, which gains strength as it interacts with my skin.

On the skin, after 1 to 2 hours: Still a good vanilla base note with the rose heart note still present.

On the skin, after 3 plus hours: The vanilla base is still there, mellow and soft. Very feminine and comforting.

Durability: Good; lasts about four hours with no discordant notes.

I will definitely be purchasing more of this, ASAP! This scent isn't one that I thought I'd like quite so much, but for some reason it just worked for me. It is unique; I like how it is floral without being overwhelmingly so, and assertive without being cloying. The uplifting mint & rosemary combination are a sweet (literally!) touch. I will be recommending this perfume to all fans of rose scents, to fans of sweet florals and signature note fragrances, and to aficianados of feminine and unique scents- in fact, I may just recommend it to everyone!

Vampire

Official description of the perfume from the Seventh Scent web store: Strong, pepper spicy, red dark flowers in abandoned garden changing to sweet, warm with tint of sunflowers and bitter lemon, tones of patchouli, clove, neroli, chinese mandarin, red rose, yellow narciss, french vanilla, rosemary, and sunflower.

In the bottle: Dark, luxurious with a patchouli/woody tone.

On the skin, immediately after application: Spicy with almost anise & myrrh- like notes. Vanilla base note becomes obvious as it dries down, with the mandarin materializing as a heart note.

On the skin, 15 to 30 minutes later: Becomes softer with a powdery undertone. Vanilla still present, but offset a notch in sweetness by the patchouli. The citrus tones make a nice top note blend.

On the skin, after 1 to 2 hours: Vanilla base note prominent, with touches of blended floral, maintains the soft & powdery tone.

On the skin, after 3 plus hours: Faded to a faint & persistent pure vanilla scent.

Durability: The vanilla base note lasted for about 10 hours.

This another good perfume; I like it's feminine flavour that isn't predictable. An evening scent, and lovely for autumn!

Ulaume

Official description of the perfume from the Seventh Scent web store: Spicy, melancholical green notes changing to smell of soft honey and dark forest in the storm, tones of the clary sage, cream vanilla, yellow rose, olibanum and neroli.

In the bottle:This perfume lives up to it's description- it is chimeric, multi-faceted. At one sniff it is sweet and honey-like, in another it has a fruity tone, in the next it's slightly herbal.

On the skin, immediately after application: Spicy, with just a hint of a fresh, camphorous note. As almost an afterthought, the neroli shines through as the last note the sniffing processes- which I personally love, neroli is my favourite EO.

On the skin, 15 to 30 minutes later: Fresh and quickly giving way to a lovely predominantly neroli with a hint of vanilla combination. Delicious!

On the skin, after 1 to 2 hours: Fades to the soft vanilla base note.

On the skin, after 3 plus hours: Just vanilla!

Durability: Fairly stable, lasts well for about 3 to 4 hours.

I like this perfume, both for it's layers of scent in the beginning and for the luscious neroli/vanilla blend at the heart. It is sensual, and would be a good romance or passion scent. A keeper!

Dark Love Spell

Official description of the perfume from the Seventh Scent web store: Dark flowers and dark red roses changing to spicy, penetrating and sensual, tones of dark roses, neroli, oibanum, sandelwood, vanilla, pine, rosemary, yilang-yilang, white narciss, sweet orange, clary sage and garden geranuim, bergamot and lemon.

In the bottle: Warm and slightly woody, with light, playful top notes- the lemon & bergamot waft over the nose delightfully, backed by the floral blended heart notes. Seems a bit heavy at first sniff, but the top notes chase that away.

On the skin, immediately after application: Lemony followed by the florals, with orange making an appearance as well. The sandalwood base note begins to manifest after about five minutes.

On the skin, 15 to 30 minutes later: Definite scent of vanilla with a richness to it from the sandalwood. Slightly narcotic tone as well from the narcissus and ylang ylang. Dried down, and the scent is evaporating fairly rapidly.

On the skin, after 1 to 2 hours: Faint warm tones of sandalwood and vanilla. Very sweet.

On the skin, after 3 plus hours: Vanilla still apparent.

Durability: Still a faint vanilla scent after 11 hours!

I think this is slightly too sweet for me, but still it is nice. This is a scent that would wear well during the cooler seasons and I do plan on trying it again.

I am pleased with my order and happy with the time it took to arrive- I now live in Australia after living for thirty-four years in the US, so I've had to get used to the slower, more "laid back" approach to mail services here in Oz as compared to the states. ;-) However, the perfumes arrived eight days after I ordered, were packaged well and had a lovely small print of Maria's gorgeous fairy art included- than you Maria, I am framing it! Seventh Scent's prices are great and I can't wait to place my next order!
