Did you notice the weird echoes of LOTR? Between the silver paint on Horcrux!Harry and Horcrux!Hermione (shades of evil Galadriel) and the it's-strangling-time locket-of-doom bringing to mind the One Ring abandoning Isildur... I was wondering if it was only in my extremely geeky head. Any thoughts?
Yes to both questions! I kind of liked the way they animated the Horcrux images of Harry and Hermione, even though I expected them to shriek "All will love me and despair" at any moment.
I remember reading the book and getting frustrated that JKR was all “HEY MAJOR PLOT POINT GUYS, I’M JUST GONNA INTRODUCE IT RIGHT HERE”
YES, THIS. I see little connection to the rest of the series. It kind of annoys me that the key to defeating Voldy was something that she introduced so late in the game in such a clumsy way and which totally wrecked the mythology she'd established so far.
OH MY GOD HOW HORRIDLY AWKWARD ARE RON AND HERMIONE!?
Lol, funny you say that- I hate the ship as much as the next non-shipper, but I didn't really mind them...except for that random 'stroke on the cheek' moment in the diner, 'twas a bit weird, but hey. *shrugs*
There were a lot of fanficcy pet peeves that JKR raised and/or created with book 7. Some of it felt lazy, I thought. However, the movie version didn't do too badly translating the novel into a screenplay.
Ron/Hermione just doesn't work for me at all. I think it's not even about them anymore, it's about the autocratic way that JKR finalized everything in that hateful epilogue. It makes me crazy, yo. Crazazy.
