...Knowing you are not to happy as it is, I am sorry if my comment makes you feel in any which way annoyed, upset, pissed off, etc. You get the damn picture. You achieving what you are is amazing. People have to learn to move on. It is not like anyone has lost you completely, and they should learn to deal with the fact that this is your future. They should be happy for you, and understanding that this is what you need to do. You need to commit yourself to this form of life style in order to make something of yourself. It is not as if you have dropped all forms of communication with your old friends. People love you, and the miss you, and they are angry because of it. Missing someone out of love is horrible. I was friends with a lot of seniors last year, cos I was in so many classes with them, and when they left, I was sad, but this is awesome for them, this opportunity, no way I would begrudge them of that just cos it hurt that I couldn't see them daily. Wouldn't be prudent, ain't gonna do it. lol
