Woo Hyun sat on a bench in the park as he stared up in the sky. He watched as the fluffy white clouds float through a light grey sky. The small smile that he wore on his face was a sad one as he tried to imagine the blue color that was supposed to be where he saw light grey. It was a difficult task when all you've ever seen where different shades of gray.

He finally gave up on trying after an hour of sitting on the bench and staring up at the sky; he told himself he wasn't going to visit the park anymore. He wasn't sure why he kept trying when he already knew the colors that everyone else sees will never be visible to him. He stuffed his hands in his winter coat and kept his eyes on the ground as he made his way back to his apartment.

He had a rare form of color blindness, instead of just some shades and hues being unrecognizable to his eyes all off them were. Since birth his world was always black and white. His parents helped since then found out about his problems early on. He could tell the colors apart according to the shade of grey he saw but that didn't keep him from wanting to see the colorful world that almost everyone else in the world got to see. He didn't see how it was far. What did he do to deserve his monochrome life?

-

Do I just like torturing myself? Only a day had passed since he told himself he was going to stay away from the very same park he found himself in now. Snow blanketed the ground and a sharp winter breeze cut through the air, but that didn't stop him as he pushed the snow off the bench and sat down. He could feel the cold seep through his pants once they made contact with the frozen wood. He ignored it as he tilted his head up at the sky. A small smile tugged at his lips as he saw clouds covering ever inch of the sky above him, it was one of the rare times that everyone else would see what he saw whenever he looked up at the sky. A dull grey.

Those words were on the tip of his tongue but he didn't say them. Instead he placed his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his palm before turning his attention back towards the window. "Woo Hyun. Nam Woo Hyun."

"So you are able to hold conversations."

Woo Hyun turned away from the window and let his eyes rest on Myung Soo, "Why wouldn't I?"

"I've actually wanted to approach you for a while but you always seemed so lost in your thoughts. When I finally did talk to you I was just cut off prematurely, I never got to ask why you just stared up at the sky for hours on end."

"How do you know that I like watching the sky?"

"I'm a regular visitor at that park due to the fact that my nephew loves going there and I'm often watching him."

"How do I fit into that?"

"You caught my eye." Woo Hyun just stared at Myung Soo and blinked, "You always look so sad when you left, I've always wondered why."

"Why would you wonder, I'm just a stranger."

"I'm just curious."

"Haven't you heard of the say curiosity killed the cat? You shouldn't pry into others life."

"So I can't be curious?"

"You can, I just don't see the point about being curious about me."

"What did you mean by what you said yesterday?" Woo Hyun knows exactly what the other was referring to but he said nothing as he turned his attention back towards the window. The blizzard was showing no sign of relenting.

Myung Soo didn't seem to mind the silence as he called over one of the waitresses and ordered something to eat and drink while he waited out the storm.

Woo Hyun was still focused on the window when Myung Soo's things came and he started eating. Woo Hyun turned his eyes away from the window and started looking around at the many different shades of grey in the small café. They sat in silence for a little longer before Myung Soo started to talk again.

"I don't think it's going to change the longer you stare at it."

Once again Woo Hyun turned his attention towards Myung Soo, "If you answer my question I'll answer yours."

"Ask away."

"Why do you wear black and white when there are so many different colors in the world?"

Myung Soo laughed a little before answering, "I know it may be stupid but I love black and I just find myself going for black more then anything else." Woo Hyun thought about his answer for some time as his eyes wondered around the café. The silence that hung around them was a comfortable one. Myung Soo sipped on his drink as he patiently waited for Woo Hyun's answer.

"All I see is black and white." Woo Hyun's words had Myung Soo looking at the other, "My world is monochrome."

"Oh, I don't think that's something to be sad about..."

Woo Hyun was expecting a lot of things but Myung Soo's words caught him off guard, "Why is that?"

"White is basically a rainbow," Myung Soo said with a small smile, "So you see color, you just see it differently." Woo Hyun didn't try to hold back the way his lips curled up at Myung Soo's words, he had never thought about it like that before. Myung Soo smiled back and Woo Hyun couldn't help but to feel like this wasn't going to be there last meeting.

Woo Hyun turned towards the window and realized the blizzard had stopped and a blanket of snow covered the ground. He gathered his things with a smile as he stood up and looked at Myung Soo. "You’re the first person to put a positive spin on the fact that my world is monochrome, I hope we meet again." Woo Hyun left the café with Myung Soo's last words echoing in his mind.

"You can count on it."
