So I haven't had any time this week to see Iron Man OR The Crimson Horror yet, and there's copy-editing to do on Sunday, not to mention the upcoming Neil Gaiman episode, and I come home to this?????
John Hurt to play the 'real' 9th Doctor Mind, it's partly The Sun talking, and we all know how reliable it is (though
it seems confirmed that Hurt will at least play "part of the Doctor"), but... brb all the mixed feelings about this. o_O Because, I mean. John Hurt! An actual real visibly older actor being onscreen being not-twenty at us! Another Doctor, supposedly, to which I say get over here and join the pantheon and let me squee about you like I do about all the other ones! Time War revelations! Eleven being really Twelve, which means his next regeneration is highly likely to involve some kind of Valeyardiness, which is what I was hoping his personality changes were going to lead into! And yet I'm 110% over the Doctor ~hiding so much secret angst and shame~, and while not surprised at Eccleston staying out of it (like he's been saying he would since forever), have to whimper at hearing no word about McGann. And the idea of an entire "lost" regeneration being a never-seen-again plot device who won't even get a whole season just makes me headdesk. And also scream.
And now I'm going to shut up and not think about it till it happens, because JOHN HURT BEING A DOCTOR, but... stuff!!!!
[edit] It's now sounding like 99% of this is false. Welp. \o/
