I usually try to refrain from politics, but whew. I always thought he'd wane, but I was side-eyeing things there a bit. Cruz probably would have won by a little more if he hadn't spoke against corn subsidies in Iowa of all states. Not that I'm a fan of Cruz, mind you ( Read more... )

Yeah, this Bernie Sanders seems to be a US version of the current Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn - and old time socialist (if there even are such things in the US), so basically unelectable.

I'm glad Trump didn't win, but from what I can see Cruz is no different. He just has better hair.

Yeah, for me this election is pretty much a case of which body part do you want cut off. Which one of these people do I think would do the least damage... When you strip away the rhetoric and nationalism, there's not a great deal of difference between these people in terms of policies. Actually, if it weren't for the expansion of presidential powers, I wouldn't be all that afraid of Trump (other than embarrassment) because there's no way he'd be able to convince anyone in Congress to do anything.

I don't think Sanders is unelectable, honestly. If he can get enough of the young, college crowd out there with his promises, he can pull some votes, as Iowa demonstrated. Of course that would probably change once his ideas get scrutinized on a national level.

Still, at least Trump appears to be taking hits, finally.
