I generally don't think social media benefits actors or actresses very much. It's really only a matter of time before foot enters mouth or someone intentionally reads something the wrong way. By and large, less is better when it comes to interacting with fans, IMO

No one really knows, of course, and you can't judge everything from tweets, but some stuff is pretty hard to fake. SMG and DB supposedly hated each other post S3 is probably my favorite that got debunked.
It's cool to hate on Joss nowadays, but it seems a lot of that drama got truncated from what I've read. The same fans who claimed he had little to nothing to do with Angel and that's why it was better than Buffy suddenly claim he ruined the show and took special time out from Buffy and Firefly to make CC's life hell. Yeah, OK. They ignore a lot of the other stuff going on at that time and try to make it out that he fired her for getting pregnant rather than the far more likely case of them having their budget slashed and being forced to bring over JM.

I don't know about the Pruitt drama, though. Who/what is Pruitt?

SO ANNOYING. I mostly read this stuff on Tumblr and here on ONTD, where apparently people are better than everyone else and so they criticise anything.

I really think all this gossip is bullshit honestly.
Oh, I'd be willing to bet it is. The over the top stuff you'd hear claimed was ridiculous. Now in the more modern times of social media, the claim is the actor grew as a person or whatever. The more likely case is the stories were bullshit to begin with. You don't grow from the level of social dysfunction that was claimed back then, nor do you maintain friendships for years and years.
I find gossip fun, but you have to be aware of your biases, you know?
I don't know about the Pruitt drama, though. Who/what is Pruitt? You never heard the Jeff Pruitt stuff? Oh my! Basically he and his wife Sophia were the stunt coordinator and stunt woman for Buffy/Angel in S1-S4. Things blew up toward the end of his tenure and they were fired. Well, he was fired, I suppose Sophia left with him. He wrote this bizarre screed called Parable of the Knight that was a thinly-veiled bash piece on Sarah and Joss. He claimed she had him fired. Naturally, people believed it even though he was crackers ( ... )

Always amusing when one of them gets debunked.

Yeah, gossip is fun as long as everyone keeps it the light-hearted speculation level. "I heard this/that" sort of thing.
But when one or two posters go around "correcting" the record with their facts, it's nice to see it shot down.
