The Curious Case of Better Call Saul

BCS is really the only currently running show I've been watching. I loved S1 and S2. S3, however, has left me in new territory in terms of why I keep watching it.

Normally, I tend to gravitate toward main characters. Usually they're my favorite or I at least like them. And I liked Jimmy in S1 and S2. S3 on the other hand has really turned me off him. It's strange. Maybe it was the Cranston factor on BrBa but even when Walt was at his worst, I still liked him and wanted him to succeed. That's not the case with Jimmy. I want to see him get his. I don't think it's Bob's acting, I just find Jimmy's kind of bad completely unsympathetic, especially the last half of the season so far (I've seen up to 8). He created the whole situation and now he seems to blame everyone but himself, even Kim, and doesn't seem to even feel bad about it.

In other 180 degree turns, I'm fond of Mike on BCS. I was indifferent to him on BrBa, but on BCS his scenes and storyline are my second favorites behind Nacho, who I hope doesn't die. Sadly, he's one of the characters that could. There is a mention of a Ignacio in S2 of BrBa, but he could die and Saul not know about it.

I also really don't like Kim, which is apparently sacrilege. I don't know if it's the actress just not making her conflict come through or it's just not there, but she seems to exhibit all the things people (claimed to) loathe about Skyler without any of Sky's trappings. She turns a complete blind eye to Jimmy's scams when they benefit her--their relationship really started after she and Jimmy scammed Ken Wins. Her feeling bad about what they did to Chuck (after, of course, but not enough to come clean) doesn't move me at all.

Speaking of Chuck, I find him more sympathetic than Jimmy. I don't really think he's right, but I get where he's coming from more oft than not. Sadly, again, like Nacho, he's one of the people who can/will die at some point.
