Dear PETA,

Stop making animal welfare orgs look bad.  Seriously.

Besides, even if you did free the killer whales at Sea World (by some fucking miracle, provided you don't get laughed out of court first), they'd have no idea how to survive in the wild, especially since they were bred and raised in captivity.  It would also likely put them in even more ( Read more... )

animal abuse, animals

I don't really have anything to say, but I just wanted to say that you're cool and you're right on this and also yay animals!

Hope you're doing all right.

Also i can tell you that when some of those animal liberation front people, "liberate" mink around here, the mink are quite adapt, and kills off birds and other small animals. And to the extend where it's really bad for the eco system that there is suddenly like 4 times as many predators as there were supposed to be.

I'm with you with not being a big fan of caged animals, and just letting them out is not the answer. No matter if they are a danger to others or themselves.

With the killer whales, they won't be able to adapt, if only because when they see humans, they think, "MMM...Fish!" with their human handlers making that association, and not "Humans...Bad" as wild whales do when faced with whalers.

Why PETA and those others don't see that as a problem, is beyond me, and why I tend to support animal welfare orgs that don't pull stupid shit like this (like the SPCA, IFAW, and the like).

Sorry if I'm butting in, and I guess I did have more to say. :)

I wonder if it's the whole thing with ideology. Where to them it's their social identity and their in-group and their beliefs, and so they don't see outside of that little bubble to the larger ramifications of their actions?
