I loved the idea of Paul meeting John with his newborn son- this entire scene was too sweet.

"I can't believe it," Paul states.
"Believe what?" John digs in his pockets for a cigarette.
"I'm an uncle," The younger of the two finishes, and he winks. John laughs, smoke escaping his mouth in bursts of a melancholy gray. He draws a card from the deck that's on the coffee table.
And this one:
The other thing that John notices about Paul, is that in addition to being a bouncy drunk, he is ultimately the most amicable drunk you've ever met.
That is so funny, and I've no problem to imagine that.

I am once again speechless, but I'm going to try and say something other than: OMG YOU ROCK (which you DO btw)
So um, your descriptions of everything are SO original, and the way you put the words together makes so much sense, I'm not even sure I can describe it to you. But I'll just quote a few of my favorite lines.
He says, his excitement somewhat reminiscent of John's earlier years, the ones he couldn't remember without a certain blurriness at the edge of his visions and his eyes ringed red from all the tears he's never cried. YES. SO amazing because it's such a beautiful way to say that he's never let out his tears.
he wishes he had something stronger, so that maybe it would burn his throat, but he only has this dull buzz that turns up the volume on his dull heartbeat, and he has these dimly lit eyes that for some reason he can't take off of his best friend Once again, amazing way to say that.
John is trapped in his own mind, because Godonly knows that no one will be able to hear him if he spoke, ( ... )
