Yes, that is definitely a major problem with jobs!
Plus, there never seem to be any *fewer* things that I would like to do... I could *so* retire tomorrow and not be bored.
On this particular holiday, it was long walks that took the hit. I went on short walks, which were lovely, but nothing over 5 miles. Instead I would stroll out and stop when I found something I liked the look of. And I spent quite a lot of time sitting in the sunshine reading books and contemplating the infinite.
At first I was thinking of doing line-and-wash, so as to stick with the line drawing I've been doing in the last few years. But I decided that was wussy and I should just get in there with colour and not fuss about with lines. I do think that all the line drawing helped me with the initial pencil sketch that underlies each painting. I forgot to bring a rubber though, so I had to be pretty careful with the pencil! I think actually that helped me to focus on making decisions and not faff about redrawing / revisiting.

There does tend to be a lot less time for fitting in *all* the things one used to do (apart from whatever subset is included in one's job).
