I liked Batman & Son esp Alfred. Alfred is all kinds of awesome.
But the cut from ch 6 to ch 7 just made me go ???!!!?!?!?!?
I think I've worked out that Batman R.I.P is the one that I have to read to fill in a part of the gap and then there's all the Batman and Robin series that happening now with Dick and Damien.
NONE of the books give you any sort of hint at the chronology or what to read before or after or whatever. That's always been one of the things annoyed me about super hero books. I wanna have a volume 1. 2. and 3. is that so much to ask?
It doesn't help me when I'm at the comic book stores with all these lovely batman books in front of me, and no device with which to go online with to find out which ones are the ones that are related.
(oh man I so wished I worked at a comic book store - although the library is also pretty decent for comic books)
would have asked a comic book store person, but the store was crazy busy.
I did google batman and son afterwards . But it didn't mention R.I.P or Final Crisis? Only a few single issues here and there, which our library would not stock.
I'm going have to make friends with a proper comic book nerd who can map out the chronology for me.

Final Crisis isn't listed because it's not a "Batman" comic, but it comes between RIP and Battle for the Cowl.
