For the writers out there...

Mar 26, 2006 07:05

I've been trying to muster up the creative energy to write again. Fanfic, original stuff, slash, ANYTHING. But Writer's Block is a bitch-kitty; it seems like everything I have an idea for has been done before ( Read more... )

One of the best ways to get out of a writer's block is to check your work against another unbiased writer. If you want, you could check some of your work by me.

Thanks; I'll bear that in mind. Of course, to check my work by you I have to actualy have some work to check by you first, neh? ^_^

Ug I know how that can be. I go through that a lot. The best way is even if you are doing a story that's been done before is to do it your way, put a different spin on it.

Usually I'd paw at Nieve Sensei or Zeiros Shisho to handle this. Both seem like better writers than I could be. c.c;
[Mainly because I don't exactly write. I kind of draw. ^ ^;;]

What I do isn't something everyone really can. But it helps me draw so.. maybe it'll help you write.

I happen to go down a list of old song titles that are at VGmusic.com
When you listen to a melody without words, it's easier to form something because you're concentrating on what you can come up with while listening to music rather than lyrics.

And if that doesn't work Crystal Blue Shisho writes well enough~

Dunno if you think this would work, but there's an exercise my Artist's Way book outlines: Write a page in the morning when you wake up.

Fill it up. With anything. Everything. The first thought that comes to your mind. Then the next then the next then the next until you fill a page.

And ya do it everyday for all eternity. And you don't read back on these, you just write them once and put them away, since they're meant to be "sketches," ~practice kinda, a warm up just to get creative juice flowing.

You're supposed to do it right when you wake up, because if you do it later in the day, you'll write about what you're thinking about~ whatever you did last. In the morning your mind is a little more biased.

It works for me... I draw more and write more during the week when I do the "page" in the mornings.

I guess you don't have to do it for all eternity... just till your muse comes back, lol. I kinda need it to keep busy though. When I stop my art declines. ^^;

Interesting idea. And it's not like we don't have enough blank journals floating around the place. Thanks!
