Isamu and two other friends were on a student trip aboard a science vessel when everything went to shit. The head scientist in charge of the most recent project had been working in secret behind the backs of the others, intending to reconstruct an entire planet to fit his own design. A malfunction in the mainframe caused massive destruction throughout the ship, killing most aside from the head scientist, Isamu, his friends, and a couple others.
Chambers full of experimental substances and subjects were released in the ship's destruction, having various effects on those that remained alive, eventually driving all of them mad to the point that they were all struggling to gain control over the original experiment and thus the hapless planet below. One of the others eventually bested Isamu, and he was sent hurtling out into space where it was presumed that he perished. This wasn't the case, thanks to the changes his body had undergone.
the mutation
Isamu's eyes have gone yellow and he no longer ages. He can survive in any environment and recover from grievous wounds. Instances that require him to do this will usually cause his skin to grow many face-shaped growths that can absorb any substance or material to replenish his life energy. Some materials, such as living beings, are better at healing him, but he prefers to avoid that if possible. He can also eat normally, and has a rather high metabolism.
Noah
Along with the physical changes, Isamu also managed to swipe a device from the lab before he was tossed out an airlock. It's durability allowed it to remain intact despite everything. He's named the device Noah, and it contains a limited computer A.I. This allows for limited teleportation, as in it takes a lot of energy to use and must recharge for at least a day after a jump is made.
