Character Notes: Speech

Languages
Aaron does have a knack for languages, as in once he learns one, he won't forget it. He doesn't know as many languages as his Northern brother, instead not seeing why he should spend the time learning something he's not likely to use, but he is fluent in four languages, excluding those of the Native American tribes.

Aaron can speak in English, Mexican Spanish, German, and French. It’s Creole French, though, so it's entirely possible France himself wouldn't be able to figure out what the hell he was saying. He's fluent in English and Spanish, and German is...enough to get by. He's not completely fluent in it, but he's not too bad at it. Germany listening to him speak German would probably be similar to listening to Russia speak English. Usually, he'll speak in English even while speaking to...Spain, for example, but every now and then he might slip into the other language, sometimes without him actually noticing. Or doing such things as speaking French to England in order to annoy him. Beyond that though, English is simply the language he’s most comfortable using.

However, he does have a preference for the Native American languages.

Of the Native American languages, Aaron's fluent in the Southern tribes. He doesn't really know any of the Northern ones very much, except for maybe a few basic phrases here and there. He also usually doesn't use these languages at all, and if he does, it would only be around his brothers. And only in emergencies as well, when they didn't want someone else to understand what they were saying, or as a last ditch effort to get through to them. He was more likely to use the languages when he was young. Of them, he's the most fluent in Cherokee, but also knows a majority of Muskogean languages (such as Choctaw, Chickasaw, etc.)

Beyond the human languages, there’s the Nation language they are born knowing.

Accents
His default accent is of the Deep South, specifically Alabamian. Alabama is the "Heart of the South" and its capitol, Montgomery, is the "Cradle of the Confederacy" along with being his capitol before Richmond was. If he were speaking to someone from a particular state or region, he's liable to switch accents without noticing, though. Like if he were speaking to a Appalachian he'd use that regional dialect, or if he were speaking to a Texan he's slip into a Texan's accent. His accent is also pretty thick, to the point that if he tried speaking in another accent there would still be a bit of drawl and twang in it.

He could enunciate to get little or no accent if he needed to, but it means speaking slower which also tends to have the result of making him mess up. Usually, he only stutters when he's rather nervous or embarrassed, and has a habit of trailing off while he tries to figure out how to word what he’s trying to say. Usually he only enunciates when asked politely, if someone was to tease him about his accent or otherwise look down on him, Aaron’s likely to switch to one of the thicker and harder to understand dialects, such as Appalachian or Creole.

OOC Permissions
I’m aware while some people approve of his accent, others do not. However, I have been typing his accent the way I have for over two years now and have grown used to his voice and so I can’t just stop just because someone may disagree with my particular portrayal.

Typing it out, it typically shows in “Southern” words such as ya’ll or ain’t. There’s Aaron’s habit of dropping out letters, especially at the beginning or end of a word, such as ’bout or ’fore instead of about or before, or alternatively didn’ or don’ instead of didn’t or don’t. A letter may be dropped in the middle of a word, such as act’ally, diff’rence, or li’e in place of actually, different, or like. In certain cases he may change a letter, such as pronouncing thing as thang, or say such thangs as drunk or drug instead of drank or dragged. He also has a habit of leaving out parts of a sentence instead of saying the whole thing.

So with these things in mind, if you would prefer me:
A.) Tagging your character but typing in proper English.
B.) Tagging your character but adjusting the typed out accent to be less noticeable.
C.) Not tagging your character(s) at all.
Simply let me know in this post.
