Some people may say that the fact that Tohru loves and forgives everyone etc is why she's a Mary Sue, but seriously, if you take a girl with a genuinely sunny outlook and gives her a fear of being alone/abandoned, of course she'll want to see the best in everyone! And she'll forgive them because she believes them to be good, and because of a fear that if she doesn't, they might leave her too... That goes the opposite way as well; if she believes everyone to be good it'll hurt even more when they turn out not to be
