Fruits Basket Love Post, part 7

Sep 02, 2009 16:09

Final post in this Fruits Basket Love Series. Here, I'll pick one scene from each manga that stood out to me. Spoiles, obviously.

This post is highly subjective. I chose to take one scene from each volume of manga in order to limit myself - it doesn't represent an accurate account even of my favourite scenes, since some manga volumes have more than one, and with some volumes I just had to pick something because nothing really stood out.

1. Tohru's grandfather steps in to keep her family from insulting her. Also, Yuki and Kyo come to take Tohru back.
2. Tohru's "rice ball" analogy of self-esteem.
3. Shigure confronts Kyo over how he acts like he's obligated to hate Yuki. Also, hint of something traumatic in Kyo's past.
4. Tohru pushes Akito away from Yuki.
5. Kisa calls out to Tohru.
6. Tohru refusing to let go of Kyo.
7. Kyoko protecting Uotani.
8. Kyo telling Hatsuharu to keep Tohru out of his foul mood.
9. Hanajima becoming friends with Tohru and Uotani.
10. Kyo realising that Hiro has said something to Tohru.
11. The revelation of Akito's identity.
12. Kyo telling Kagura that regardless of the reason, he was happy when she played with him.
13. Ayame interfering in Yuki's parent-teacher conference.
14. Tohru comforting Rin.
15. Little Yuki helping Little Tohru.
16. Kyoko crying for Katsuya.
17. Oddly enough, it's not the big revelation about Akito - but rather Kyo and Tohru's scarf.
18. Yuki breaking the chalk because Machi can't handle perfection.
19. Shigure explaining that everyone knows what Kyo's fate is, and why they don't oppose it.
20. Hiro's curse breaking, and him picking up Hinata.
21. In this volume, I just can't pick one, so you'll get two: Tohru reaching out to Akito, and Yuki and Kyo finally coming to terms (with their fists). (BTW, while I usually really like the official translation, I think this scene works better with the fan translation - it has a lot more impact.)
22. Kyo tearing off his bracelet.
23. Tohru and Kyo taking a walk at the end.

Like I said, there are a lot of other scenes I could have chosen, especially in the latter volumes. There's just so much in this manga.

And here I conclude my Furuba posts - for now.
