Anime/manga I've watched/read

Jan 04, 2010 14:04

Some time ago, I did an anime rec week (click the anime or rec tag), which was a little hampered by the fact that those were all the anime I'd watched at the time. Now, I've watched/read a lot more ( Read more... )

manga, anime

It was pretty good. Not my favourite, but not something I regretted watching, either.

Maka is totally my reason for reading Soul Eater.

FW is totally my way of finding stuff it was kind of how I got into watching Princess Tutu and Avatar, but mostly right now I rely on what my flist is talking about to figure out what I want to read.

Personally, I have other reasons as well, but Maka is the best one. And I take a certain gleeful delight in that the mangaka says he made her a girl because he thought that would be easier for both boys and girls to identify with. After hearing that "boys can't identify with girl protagonists" for years, that was rather satisfying.

Okay, I'm familiar with both the anime and the manga of Soul Eater, and I have to say...it's equally good, until the anime branches off from the manga around ep 36. Personally, I think the anime found its feet quicker art-wise, and has fewer panty-shots. Also, some of the fighting sequences look better animated.

So what I'd suggest is either you both watch and read, or you watch the anime up until ep 36 (and remember that the attack Maka uses at the end of it is one she learns later in the manga), and then switch to manga. It's not that the anime ending is bad, it's just that the manga continues to become *really, really good*.

(Or, you know, just do either anime or manga. It's up to you.)

Wow! You've seen Original Gundam! And My-HiME/My-Otome! And Prétear! And even Fate/Stay Night! (I've been trying to rewatch that one, but I keep getting distracted...) So, do I have bad taste or REALLY bad taste? ;D

You have...eclectic taste? I'll admit that none of those were the ones that got into my brain and stayed there, but I liked all well enough. I still want to watch every Gundam series ever, but I realise that this will take a long time, especially since I keep getting distracted.

Now you MUST watch Princess Tutu, durnit! The power of Mr. Cat compels you! (Or you must MARRY ME! Miaow, miaow.)

Good enough. :) Is there anything you would particularly reccomend from this list? I've already started on Tutu (I'll finish, I'll finish! *clutches single-status fearfully XD *) and Nanoha.

Yeah, gundam is... endless. I'm just past the halfway point for both the UC and AU series, and while I feel mightily accomplished, I have decided that I am in no way giving myself any more deadlines when it comes to watching these things.

Nah, you've already seen Full Metal Panic. Besides, you should finish Tutu and Nanoha first. How much have you seen so far?

Speaking of Tutu and FMP: It is a source of never-ending hilarity to me that the English voices of Duck/Tutu and Fakir are the same as Sousuke and Kaname. Both dubs are actually really good, as far as I can tell, but imagine Duck with a giant paper fan or Fakir in a mecha! Or Sousuke and Kaname doing ballet...

If you absolutely want a rec, I think you'd enjoy Soukou no Strain.
