Gundam ZZ, 1-10
So...this is quite a change from Zeta, isn't it?

Episode 1 was mostly an infodump. What's gone on before, how the colonies work (and I really have to go back and take detailed notes, because that's the sort of stuff I like), and...
)(&¤&)(#¤& YAZAN IS ALIVE!?!?!?!?!? Of all the characters, he's the one I wanted most to die...
Over the episodes, I started wondering what the point of Yazan was. He just seemed to crash into things. Then he started talking about how he used to be so good and now he'd been brought down low, and I finally put my finger on something that had been bothering me - I'll get back to that later.
The new characters: Judau seems a bit like a thughead, but is generally likable. Leina is the classic Frau/Fa worrier, but this time his sister, not a possible love interest. I always end up having sympathy for that sort of character. Elle seems promising. Roux Louka seems like the sort of character I usually end up liking.
Mondo/Iino/Beecha were just annoying until Mondo and Beecha decided to turn traitors. Iino is kind of a wimp. Why didn't he tell Bright that Mondo and Beecha were telling Axis of the Argama's whereabouts? I know they're his friends, but they weren't being very friendly, and if Argama is shot out of the sky, they all die. Well, maybe he'll shape up.
Now, about the Axis crew:
Oh my gaaah, Mashymre Cello. He's introduced with a damn *eyesparkle*. His mobile suit is called *Hamma-Hamma*. And that rose... (You know who he reminds me of? Femio, from Princess Tutu - right, Omni, you haven't got to him yet.) Mash is...a different sort of villain, I have to say. And his worship of Haman just makes me LOL. I have to wonder, though, did she really say all those things to him, or is he dreaming them up? And why isn't he using a space suit when piloting in space? Also, his brand of...enthusiasm...seems to infect the other Axis soldiers. SMOKE ROSE. Poor Gottn really is the only sane man.
Next episode I'll see more of Chara Soon. I'm interested. SHE TOUCHED HIS ROSE.
The old crew:
Bright is genre-savvy. Shinta and Qum have bigger roles.
Fa frustrated me. I know that Methuss and the Zeta Gundam are damaged, but she should be better than she was. She came through when it was about protecting others, but still...
Fa also seemed very stressed and worried about Kamille (understandable. The one time we saw him, I went all *wibble!*), and I lost count of the number of times I went "Oh, Fa, poor thing". Then I connected her condition to Yazan's, and a theory formed:
Either there's something in the air on Shangrila colony, or every holdover character from Zeta is suffering from PTSD. Possibly a combination of both.
Everybody seemed to change the moment they got back to space. Well, except Mash, that is.
I'm actually glad Fa went back to Shangrila and Kamille. Maybe she can heal up whatever broke inside her and come back stronger. I really think that just like the Methuss, Fa never fully healed.
Right! Onto the next batch of ten!
